Have you ever had a child with a mental or ADHD issue put into a hospital?
How do you cope with having a child away in hospital?

I never had a child in the hospital for ADHD, but my sons were in the hospital from the day they were born, and had to remain for two months. The hospital was three cities away from my home, and all my family worked, including my spouse, so I had to wait all week (until Saturday) before I was able to see them. It was a very trying time, and I turned to Jesus for answers. I don't know if you are Christian, but finding a spiritual guide can go a long way as far as help. I went through several emotional stages. At first I was scared because I had to leave. The hospital's NICU had strict regulations on parents staying with their children. They had no where for parents to sleep, and most of the rooms in the NICU were co-bed so even though my kids shared a room, the NICU forbid parents staying 24/7. I became bitter for a while and I cried constantly. I felt as though I never would be able to bring my children home. But eventually the feedings came rapid, and growth for them boosted. They graduated to the other side of the NICU, and after such a long wait, they called and asked "you ready?". I don't have any help for your child being ADHD. I can tell you my story, and pray you'll find peace. "The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion" Psalm 111:4

It is all one question there is not a comma in that thought.
I know my child is not the only one to be hospitaliesd there are other kids in the program there to I'm looking for others in my situation non NICU sob stories, those are a dime a dozen.

Why would Domitillia think that anyone would want to answer here when she is so hostile? Mabey there is no one on this site that has hospitalized their child with mental problems...

Have you tried to talk to someone in the social work dept. These people are wonderful and have tons of resources...I am sure they could help you. Also, there is usually a network of parents with the same thing going on at the hospital that would be willing to help.

My daughter spent 2 years in and out of hospitals for something completely different. And, sure the stories are a dime a dozen and that's truly sad. I hope that you find and truly appreciate the help that you are looking for. Good luck and best wishes to your child!
