I'm the mother of 2 boys Todd 12yrs old & Matt 11yrs old, both beautiful boys and both live world's apart!
Todd suffers from Sever Spastic Quadriplegia, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, ADHD, Hearing & Vision Impairments and recently diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder!
Matty is a normal 10 yr old boy who has dealt with his brother's disabilities really well and as his mother I am very proud of his ability to stand up, not just for his brother but other's as well!
Our live's are very different from anyone I know, my day begins any where from 4am and it's full on with bathing, dressing, feeding, medicating, stretching, hearing, vision, communication, schooling etc etc!!
Not to mention all the emails, phone calls, meetings, Dr's appointments etc etc!!
I've always wondered why I was given Todd but over the past few years alot has happened and I've come to the conclusion that this is my job as Todd's mother and soul mate, to fight for his place in the world!
I've learnt so much that I would never have known and if I don't know I'll do my very best to find out!
I love a good meeting, now! I used to dread going to meetings and having to talk in front of 5-10 people who do this all the time! But look out now, I'm full of knowledge and knowledge is POWER!
I have my bad day's but most are pretty good I guess, well they could be better, but hey ''that's life''!
Cheers Kim!
Thank God for Respite and Girlfriends!

You so sound just like me!!! I too have a special needs child and your day sounds just like mine did. I say did because my daughter is now 20 and she is no longer in school, so my day does not have to start as early. I had to learn the state laws for disabled children, I had several school meetings to attend. Drs appointments all the time. I sympathise with you, not complain but just sympathise . You sound verry motivated keep up the good work you deserve a pat on the back. Takeing care of a child with a special need is a trying task every day. You are your childs most essential asett and the best advocate he will ever have.
