Anika's first birthday is next week and I'm making two cakes. One is for all of us to eat and then I'm making a smaller one just for Anika to eat on her own. I thought I'd just put it in front of her and let her go at it! LOL

What I was wondering was, should I just make a regular white cake or is there something healthier i can make for hers? i guess as far as cake goes, you can't get REALLY healthy can you? LOL....also, do you normally put icing on it, or whipped cream? I was thinking whipped cream cause then you can control how much sugar to put in it, if I decide to put any in it at all!! anyways....i was just wondering what your thoughts were on this, or if you've all done something similar, what did you do?

i say put whatever you want onit....ITS HER BIRTHDAY...LOL
its not like your giving it too her all day everyday...hhhahaha

and icing may have more sugar (well it is sugar..lol) but cream has a high fat content...so it really doesnt matter...both are deemed "unhealthy"

happy birthday to anika

Carrot cake is what popped into my head when reading this---and you have to have icing of some sort--that is what really makes them messy!!

How about making a jello mold instead of cake and top each slice with cool whip?

I'd let her have regular cake, let her enjoy for a day....When Luke had his first birthday he wouldn't touch the cake at all, he put his hands on his lap and shoved his head down to the cake and just ate it like that, it was sooo funny.
