Hi guys! It has been such a long time since I talked with you all! For those of you who are new or may not remember me: My name is Karen, I am 27, from Alabama. I have 2 children, Tyler is 4 and Belle is 20 months. Anyway I have recently fixed my computers issues and am looking forward to talking to all my mom friends!
My issue as of now is Tyler, my 4 yo. I dont know if it is a discipline problem or him just testing his limits. I have tried time out, which only lasts for a short time. I am just not that good on being a disciplinarian. I really feel like I am being mean to him all the time but something has to give. When he doesnt get his way, you have no idea the fits. Other than that he is so smart, he has tested out of kindergarten (he will still go), so I dont know if even it could be and intelligence/ maturity thing. My GUT tells me it is just a 4 year old testing limits and I would like any advice you guys may have or any similar experiences. Thanks!

Hiya Karen:)

I would think it is testing limits......and I say this because oh boy my son went through this!!!!!!!
First off being a boy........boys are so very diffrent then girls......LOL......they are handfulls!!!!!! secondly (almost) all children test their limits! and test them every where...and over and over to find cracks......and will then use those cracks to their advantage............also at this age......they want independance( to a degree) so we as parents need to provide what every child needs.......LIMITS, and consistancy.....and yes some age appropriate independance........they need limits, and they need us to be firm with these.......and yes some appropriate independance.....age appropriate privalages......and it seems they do come out of it...lol.....I know mine is:)

well that being said...I wish you luck....boys are tough!!!!

At what age did you see an improvement?
So in your opinon I should let him test his bounderies without going over them.
