Maybe I'm dumb, but what is MRSA?

MRSA is a form of staph infection and it can be very fatal.

we had some major problems with it in ohio last year they sent leaflets home with every student in public school in almost the whole state! We had 3 cases at Tamyelles school but they were unrelated

bebe it stands for methacyllin resistant staph aureus it is a very very bad infection that runs rampant in hospitals etc. The only thing that has been killing it for a long time is vancomycin, but some strains are now resistant to that as well. Big bad bug!!

yeah MRSA is a Super Bug. there's HA(hospital acquired) MRSA, and CA(community acquired) MRSA.....it's one of those things that's hard to avoid. i probably have it from just being in contact with him. many people may have it and not know it. when it becomes a problem, is when you have a low immune system, and you get a scratch or cut or something and it travels through the blood stream. with a weak immune system it can be hard to fight off, and alot of antibiotics are resistant to it. so yeah....it's a scary one.

most antibotics i should say, are resistant to it. but they've put him on some kind that is one of the main ones now that they give to people with MRSA.....

MRSA is contageous too so be careful if you are going to be around someone who has it. A gown, gloves and mask are essential!

Most important, even if you use barriers....The NUMBER 1 way to prevent the spread of infection WASH YOUR HANDS!! That was taught to me in Microbiology the first year of nursing school, and I think that was one of the most important things ever learned. If you are in the hospital, make sure ALL (this includes doctors that think they are above the germs) health care personel that walk into your room wash their hands as soon as they walk in the room!!

lizzi that's the thing though. you might as well then walk around in gloves mask and gown everywhere you go, cause you never know WHO has it. shit you could probably get it from touching a shopping cart!!!!!!

but yes i do wash my hands and the kids hands ALOT when we go out anywhere.

our friend's leg is getting better, which is good anyways!!

The school that my kid's go to were talking about making the kid's use alcohol gel.
But many parent's called the school they were all very much up in arm's about it.
I cant say i blame them.
I have freind's who are nurse's and they tell me that the gel make's their skin really sore,if it does that to a adult hand's then what is it gonna be like with kid's skin?

Yes, and that can actually have the opposite effect. If your skin is dry and cracked, you are opening up the natural barrier and letting germs in !!

i always have a little bottle of hand sanitizer in my bag, when we go to grocery store and stuff....so when we leave i can put a bit on Anika's hands before she shoves them in her mouth after touching the carts....when she was 10 or 11 months old, i didn't do it once, and she got the rotavirus. NOT FUN!!!!!! so now i never forget.
