I have only been married a little over a year and me and my hubby are 24yrs old I just had my first baby 5 months ago, a sweet little boy. At first I thougt it was sweet that my hubbie gained "sympathy pounds" but now it's alot of pounds he weighs about 50lbs more then when we got married and it's all in a beer gut, it's so unattracting I have expressed this to him and he says he will loose weight but he dosen't try at all. He is really lazy and would never exercise. Tonight he eat a whole chicken and went to bed! it totally grossed me out. I worked my butt off to loose the baby pounds and i have just 6lbs more to go. I am back into my size 8 clothes. I know beauty is on the inside too and i didn't marry him for his looks but I am not happy with his appearance.

is the beer gut from drinking beer or from over eating?

why don't you try encouraging him to do something with you? like going on a walk together. sign up for a joint membership at the gym. do you do the grocery shopping? start buying only diet food, i.e. veggies, fruits, cereals, etc. no candies, chips, fried foods, etc.

Most men just don't care abouth these things. My hubby is supposed to be on a diet to lower his cholesterol and do you think he is actually doing it? No - and he will end up on medication for it. He is slightly overweight but not fat. He just has no desire to try to eat right. I don't try to persuade him - he is grown. I have a tough enough time with my little 30 lb five year old and trying to get her to eat!!!!

maybe you could try and motivate him by telling him you need help with the last 6 lbs. Ask him to come walking or running with you, or maybe join a unisex team sport. Maybe if he feels like he is helping you then he will find the motivation. I recently lost almost 30 lbs and I think once the wieght starts coming off then you are so much more motivated to lose it....good luck

I would put say that you are going on a diet, and make him go on it to. Then maybe start working out and get him invovled too.

Mustang_flash the first years of marriage are always the hardest. Be Paient trust me, things will changed. Have you tried planing simple outings with your husband and the baby, like perhaps a picnic in the park, if its to cold where your at you can have a picnic right in your own house. Or perhaps if you two can afford it plan a hotel activity in which it caters to kids and family . Perhaps this may get him in the move and try some out door activities besides just a simple base ball game As you stated beauty is only skin deep. You may also try baking more food then frying which will be more health for him or grilling. Hope this helps.

I really feel for you. That's a crummy situation to be in because you don't want to hurt his feelings.

Be honest with him. He deserves it. Tell him how you feel about him. If you're not attracted to him, and his mannerisms, tell him. You're both in this together for the long run. Before you were married he was probably in shape and now he doesn't care any more. Tell him it still matters to you. Trust me, he'll be glad you were honest with him. No reason to skirt around the issue. And tell him how much you love him :)

I will admit, I partially married my hubby for his looks, of course, I wanted to marry him too, but the fact that he was super goodlooking, and fantastic in the sack helped. Ha ha. Sorry, had to be said, couldn't help myself.
