Yes... he has lime disease, and just so you all know the lime disease vaccine does not last more then 6 months. Even though you are told it is good for at least a year, it is not true!

My poor dog was just diagnosed with it and he was vaccinated against it. Lucky for him it is treatable and he doesn't have it bad.

Ya.. thats what I thought. I was surprised when the vet told me he had lime disease. In fact, when she said she was going to test him for it I told her there was no way he could have it because he had been vaccinated for it. The poor guy was in a lot of discomfort due to it.

i think they better do more research in the vaccine before giving it out to pets(they worry to much about all the money they make)they need to actually put the pets first.

Thanks for the info lindalu! I had NO idea it was only good for 6 mos. Grrrrrrrr...my German Shepherd had limes when she was a pup. They gave her 2 doses of the vaccine and it cured her. We found out through a routine check so thank God we caught it early. The Vet also told me that limes is very treatable for all dogs except for Labs and Golden Retrievers. For some reason it can only be "managed" with those two breeds and is more times than not FATAL for them even with aggressive treatment : /

I hope he is ok!

Lyme disease is one thing I WILL NOT vaccinate my animals for. I have seen too many dogs develop tumors at the site and it makes it more difficut to diagnose because traces can show in the bloodstream. Dogs with the vaccine can still get Lyme disease even before the vaccine is up. It does not provide full protection at all. I think it's much easier to just always check for ticks etc. and to treat the disease with antibiotics.
