So Silas was doing really well sleeping through the night for the longest time.
Then not long after he turned 2(just last month) he started waking up in the middle of the night and throwing fits.

Jason and I couldn't figure out what was going on. He just seemed to be waking up super pissed off. His whole body will tense up and he'll be screaming his head off.
The more we try to comfort, the more he freaks out.

As it turns out, he's not just being a jerk and waking up to throw a tantrum he's having "night terrors".

My poor little man :(
The good thing is that he doesn't remember a thing and once they pass he goes back to sleep like nothing ever happened.
The shitty part is that there is not a thing we can do to help him while they're happening.
We just have to sit there and watch our baby appear tortured until he calms down.

We've been doing a lot of reading up on night terrors lately(obviously) so I have a much better understanding of what's going on.
I don't feel so much like a failure as a mother for being unable to console my child.

It's still so terrible though.
There's nothing worse than being unable to help your clearly distressed child.
Nothing.

oh man. i totally know what that's like. My daughter was having night terrors too. scariest thing i have ever had to witness. and yeah...NOTHING you can do to stop it. just gotta wait it out. hers started when she was around a year old. but now she's almost 3 and she hasn't had a night terror in over 6 months.

so hopefully it'll pass soon for your son. good luck!! :-)
