I am thinking of calling my son by his middle name. We named him Preston Alexander. My husband likes Preston but I think Alex is cute too. My first sons name is Brandon. If we decide to do this, then it better be soon before he understands his name, if he doesn't already. Should I just leave it alone like my husband says or should I just do it. Everyone has been calling him Preston, and at first I liked it because it was so unique, but why is it bothering me sooo much. I know you guys probably think I am crazy and I guess this is what I get for giving my husband his way with picking his name.

I personally love Preston, it is still un-common, as Alex is VERY common. IMO I would keep it as is. Why do you think it is bothering you now? Is it just hearing it making you think differently?

My 7 year old daughter just asked me two days ago if she could go by her middle name! hehe. I was pumping gas and just out of the blue she says, "Mama, can I go by my middle name now? I want to start using it for second grade". I was like WHAT? I asked why and she said because she thinks it is prettier. Her first name is Kyra and middle name Olivia. I will not let her because she is too old now, but I explained that she could go by "Kyra Olivia" instead of just Kyra. She was happy with that. Maybe call your son Preston Alex. It rolls very well together. ;) Let us know what you decide to do. Good luck.

Thanks, I think it has to do with nobody on my side of the family really liked the name. By the way, I love the name Kyra.

Dont families just make you mad? They always give there 2 cents about what names you choose. Why is that????
I think it is bad manners. I would never tell some one I didnt like the name they picked. But people do it all the time.
