darrian has been in his toddler bed since he could walk at 10 months so that was not new but the own room and easing himself to sleep is all new to him

Oh he walked at ten months!
We started putting andrew to bed awake when we moved into this place when he was six months old1
That is when he started going through the night!

I had my son in his own bed and in his own room as soon as he was born. My mom let my little brother sleep with her or my did until her was about 4 yrs old then she tried to put him in his own room he would throw a fit. either my mom or dad would end up in his room while he slept with one of them. they finally got sick of it and put his room up staires where my room was and put up a gate so he couldn't go down to their room in the middle of the night. So he would sneek in to my bed. I swear the boy was afraid to sleep in his own room until he was about 8yrs old. He would even beg me to let him sleep on my floor, but I would catch him trying to grab a piece of the cover or my night clothes so that he would be able to tell if I got up and left him. It was the oddest thing he was so afraid that he was going to be left alone, but he had never been left alone in his entire life LOL We make fun of him about it now that he is 25. Anyway I didn't want to end up with the same issue when i had my son.

yea when darrian was born otis was in college and work a full time job since i couldnt work (cause who can aford daycare) we had only a small one bedroom apt so we had no choice to have him in our room but he always in a bed of his own never in ours

He walked when he was 7 mo old. I didn't realize that was super young until I started meeting other moms. My the time he was 10 months old he was like a little monkey he could climb out of his crib. LOl I had to break down and get him a toddler bed so he didn't hurt himself :)

I know what you mean about childcare that is why i dont work!
To cover the cost of childcare i would have to work 40+hours a week and then what would have been the point in having andrew!

I think that children dont ask to be born so when they are here it is up to us to look after them!
