So Silas has this little bear thing that he sucks on all of the time.
I don't have a problem with it because I think it's normal for a baby/toddler to have an object that they love and constantly shove in their mouth.
My husband thinks we should try and wean him off of it.
I'm not against the idea but I don't want to take away the one thing my son loves more than anything. I want to wait until he's ready.
I mean, he's not even 2 yet.

Do any of your kids have something like that? Or did they ever have something like that?

When did they grow out of it?
What steps were taken?

Joey has his blanket; he shoves it in his mouth and sometimes drags it about, he sleeps with it wrapped around him. But he's fine if I take it away to be washed; it's not that important to him.

But if Silar loves the bear then if I were you, I'd let him have his little bear. There's no sense upsetting a baby by taking away his favourite toy with no real need to. Certainly if he's still obsessed when it's time to go to school, then I'd begin to take measures to wean him off it, but not now.

well if you really want to wean him from it, you could try hiding it, and only bring it out when it's time to sleep....that's what i'm trying to do with Lex's soother. the first couple days he was walkin' around looking for it and crying cause he didn't have it, but now he doesn't notice as much when it's not there. but he still needs it when it's sleepy time.

having a little toy, i don't think is a big deal. it's the soothers that are the devil!!!!! imo anyways...i saw a 4 year old in walmart the other day and she had a soother....and i thought I dear god!!! get that thing outta her mouth already!!!!!

Anika is 2.5 and she has a little "pollen jock" toy (from Bee Movie), and she clutches onto ALL DAY!!!! doesn't bother me. lol...
