My mam has only ever babysat for Joey overnight once, and when she did she complained at me about how early Joey wakes up (7am) She thinks it's too early, and compared with my nephew (who lives with her) it is.

My nephew doesn't go to bed till 10 or 11 at night, and then sleeps till around 9 or 10 the next morning.

Whereas Joey goes to his cot at 8 in the evening, and then sleeps till 7 the next morning. My mam thinks that's madness, that we should be able to get a lie in at weekends etc, and it put her off babysitting for him overnight again.

Is it? What time do your kids go to bed and get up at?

my kids go to bed at 7pm and wake up at 7 am. i don't mind getting up that early at all...honestly i didn't even think that was considered TOO early. I don't like putting them to bed later cause i like to have evenings for myself. when they go to bed at 7pm it allows me to have a couple drinks and watch a few of my tv shows, and get a few hours of peace and quiet....

if I put them to bed LATER then i get less time for myself in the evening and then what? i get an extra hour or two of sleep in the morning...big fkin' whoopie!! lol...i'd rather have the evenings than sleep in.

and honestly i don't know ANY of my family that gets up any later than 8am....except my 15 year old brother. lol...

we're prolly bad examples. we're all up late sleep late people. i think it just depends on the person though. i know lots of people just like you who would rather go to bed earlier and get up earlier in the morning. we are just the other way. it does seem alittle extreme though that she wouldn't want to keep him over night anymore just because he wakes up early....it's not like she would have to start getting up that early from now on lol just an occasional morning here and there....idk just my opinion

My kids who are 6 and 4 are generally in bed before 8pm. They usually get up around 6:30.... If it is the weekend they will stay in bed til 8.... 11 hours of sleep for a kid is the norm I think. I find that if I put my kids to bed later, they still end up getting up around the same time and are fussy and nasty..... Bed time is VERY important, otherwise, I would never get to have a grown up, uninterrupted conversation with my husband...

I have always put my children to bed at a regular bedtime.........when they were really young it was between 7 and 8 depending on the years........
My son, was hardest to get into a regular bedtime........
because of the age diffrence in my children, my youngest had to go to bed "early" because we had to get up to get his sister to school.....
My 13 year old, was easy to get into a routine, even as a young one......she was always in bed around 7 and up early........
when we moved to a diffrent time zone, it was a bit weird because at first she was going to bed around 5;30 pm, and getting up around 5........took about a month to slowly change that to work into the time zone we moved into......
my children now,........
9:00 for my 13 year old
and between 7:30 and 8 for younger

now of course on nights we have their programs they are in, this is later.
on weekend we do not have so called bedtimes........because it is the weekend they can stay up late........

We start Silas's bedtime routine at 7pm and he's in bed no later than 8pm(unless there are special circumstances)
He usually wakes up between 7-8am.

Personally, I'd rather get up early and have time to wind down and relax after he's gone to bed.
If we were to put him to bed at 10 or 11pm I would be in bed right after...that doesn't make sense to me.
I am totally with bmes on this one.
I neeeeeeed some time where there isn't noise and where I don't have to be doing anything but zoning out in front of the tv.

Not only that, good luck getting your nephew up for school when the time comes.
They'll have to change his routine which is going to suck.
If your mom is concerned about sleeping in then why doesn't she just go to bed earlier?

Jason and I take turns getting to sleep in...usually I get to because he just wakes up early and can't fall back to sleep...I lucked out that way!
