When I put Colin in bed at night won't he stay there??? He is up and out of bed almost as soon as I close the door... I try to be stern, angry, sympathetic, gentle, spanking, even ignoring. NOTHING WORKS! He gets up three or four times before he finally goes to sleep. He does it at naptime sometimes too. Is he just a 3 1/2 year old who is trying his mother's patience? Have I lost touch with just how obnoxious a 3 1/2 year old is? Do I have no idea what I am in store for with a bad ass little red headed boy? Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.. LOL

oh bebe........just the way you tell things cracks me up.

I dunno.........Olivia went through that.....though she was older when she started with the......i need a drink.....i need to pee....i need oooooooooooooh frick sake already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing i had going for me......was she was older. So it finally got to................get your poop togehter girl before you settle in cuz MOM is not gonna tuck you in do the entire routine over again each and every TIME.

Ok.......yes part of me knew......she just wanted up a wee bit later but thats no good on a school night for her and i know that. The other part was she lol just wanted more hugs and kisses :) but....................it was all just getting carried away. So.......again thank gosh she was old......cuz i could reason a bit.... (slightly) and get THROUGH.......(though it took time lol) but yes........finally...got past it.

I feel for ya mom........cuz he is smaller and i know how it can get to be......... :|

ok, my friend had a problem with the same thing bebe and she solved it by purchasing from WalMart these things that fit over the doorknobs. They are white and plastic, and they are "child safety knob covers" once they are placed on the knob, the child cannot turn it, therefore, keeping them in or out of rooms. It is not child abuse, or neglect, it just will simply keep your kid in his room when it is naptime. Place it on the inner doorknob. My friend said it worked wonders. Good luck

Wish I could help ya, I always had to lay with mine. Our 3 1/2 year old lays with us then I carry him over once he is asleep to his toddler bed.

I know how you feel,we are having the excat same thing with Andrew at the moment,we have started to put a stair gate across his room now that seem;s to work, but when you work 3 day's a week(like i do) and the other day's are spent cathing up on housework and spending time with my child it is tiering when they play up at bed time.

I wish i could offer some really good advice but as i am going through the same thing as you at the moment and not coping very well,i cant all i can offer is my sypmthey.

Just put a babygate up in the doorway and provide him with some toys to play in bed with. Put some classical music on the radio and turn the lights down low. They soon get tired and put themselves into bed when they're ready.

Those are all lovely ideas except he will get up and then if I don't come right away will go lay in bed and yell for me "MOMMY CAN YOU TUCK ME BACK IN???"

well...i just take her toys out of her room and close the door. if she gets out of bed and starts wondering around there's nothing to play with and eventually she just gets bored and falls asleep...whether it's on the floor or in her bed....i just went up there to get her from her nap and she had fallen asleep in her closet!! ha ah ha.....

last summer there was this hole kind up on the under side of the roof the part that hangs over a bit, and wasps were flying in and out of there....so my hillbilly hubby went up on a ladder, stuffed the hole with this putty and covered it with duct tape!!!! OMG...
