I am getting ready to do the same with my 15 month old little girl. We started to and she did great and then she found 2 of them and you can't get them away from her. My oldest was like that to. They have stashes of them somewhere. lol

tell him he needs to mail them to other little babies in the world who need them.

i am getting ready to do this also. my mom has weaned many children off of theirs. me and my sister and then she worked in daycare. her suggestion for me was to take it away during the day. let them have it for naps and bedtime but as soon as they are awake they can't have it. and then gradually take it away for naps and then bedtime. this is how i think i am going to do it.

At 8 months I took it from my son and never gave it back...about a year later we found one buried in the toy box and i tried to see if he would take it...he spit it out and had no idea what it was for...I also did this with his bottles at like 18 or so months...just took them away one day..that was abit hard but after 2 days he forgot all about them...

krystal- eve,
You know your baby best, do what works best for you.
I did not have a problem with the pacifiers, my youngest it was the bottle, I cut the top off when he was not looking, gave it to him, and when he went to drank it it went everywhere, I told him he had to through it out now, he cried alot for a few days, but then that was it.

because im trying to get him in his own room. he has always been in his own bed but just in our room, well when i started that i have to get up like 4-5 times a night cause he looses his paci so i thought if i can get him off that hell sleep better and night and so will i .... because he only wakes up for his paci and maybe very rairly a bad dream

my son never really liked his paci he spit it out when he was a few months onl when we were at the mall and then he would just suck on his two middle fingers. I can tell getting rid of a binki is much easier then fingers LOL He only did it when he was tired and stopped before he went to school, but it used to drive me nuts. I never had to cut those finger nails for the first 5 years of his life LOL. as for the bottle he stopped that when he was about 10 months or so and jsut started taking a sippy cup. He did everything else very easy so I didn't fuss about the fingers too much.

Krystal,
My friend cut the rubber part off , without his son knowing. Then when his son when to pick up his paci, the rubber part fell off.... Paci was Broken. His son put the paci in the garbage himself, once it "broke".

Another friend had her daughter give it to the Paci Fariy. She wrapped it up, & put it out for the Paci Fary to come & get & take to little babie who don't have paci's.

In both cases the child was around 2.

Don't worry too much over him & his paci, there are more important things than "paci free at 18 months".

Yeah it does seem to be working!
We are the first week into it!
Andrew is a bit older than your little one he is 2 1/2 years so it has been hard.
The first day he cried quite a lot but this morning he gave it to me to put away intill bed time!

yea i think it might be a lil easier if he understood but he doesnt understand alot yet so im sure it might be a little tuff and well see he may not be ready yet if hes not then we wont give it up

It is best to do it weh he is ready really!
