Alexis has a fever again today of 103.2, and she had one last friday and saturday. I think that it is weird that she had them last weekend and now has one again. We treat it with Tylenol, but I want to take her to the E.R. and see what is causing it. Our ped. has cancer and doesn't see patients on fridays, because she has her chemo then. My husband doesn't think she needs to go to the E.R., what do you guys think? ↓

how old is she?
ER is that at a hospital? first I think I would take her to your gp as an emergency...if you can do that in the usa. i only ever take my daughters up to hosp if Daisy has fitted or im scared its meningitis again. Your gp would tell you if she needed to go to "er"
but a temp of 103...im uk so im Celcius...but they say if a baby has a temp of 100 F they should go to the hospital dont they. I think thats waht my heath visitor told us...scary how you forget important things lke that. Im sorry i cant help more ↑ |
but if you are concerned...take her to er.
its better to be safe than sorry...is she a baby? ↑ |
| does your doctor have another that is on call for them when they are out of the office. If you call mine, his answering service puts you in touch with an associate when he is away. If not, I say you do what you feel is right. Mothers instinct is a good thing. That way, you have no worries over the week end. I hope she gets better soon. ↑ |
Nicola, she is almost 4 years old, and 103. temp is pretty normal for her. She always runs high. When she was younger ant fever that she had was no less then 103.9 she is just one of those kids that run high temps. And yes the E.R. is at the hospital. I can't take her to her doctor as I stated the doctor has cancer and has Chemo on fridays,
Rain, at this time she doesn't have an answering service, but I think I am going to call the office and see if the nurse is in. The only reason that this is bothering me, is that she had a fever last week, and no other symptoms, and now she has another at once again no other symptoms. Her fever is down now so I am going to wait and see. Maybe it has something to do with her allergies, who knows. ↑ |
| in the uk you have your own gp...but if you go as an emergency you can see ANY gp. thats what i meant. sorry. hope she gets better soon ↑ |
| i was told 102 and they should go in...but thats also cuz my sn has medical conditions... ↑ |
| If the temp doesnt change after the tylenal...take her in... ↑ |
That is what I figured I would do, so far it hasn't come back.
I kinda sucks because I have all this medical training, but when it comes to my girls, I double guess myself so much. ↑ |
| All my kids have always gotten high fevers and my doctor recommended giving them children's motrin because it works better than tylenol on the the high fevers. Of course if it keeps coming back she should be taken to the ER. How old is she? ↑ |
| ceelee your right motrin...I forgot that...It was tylenal for years and then they started saying Motrin... ↑ |
| you can take Tylenol and Motrin together and stagger them, cause they don't react with eachother. Anika had a fever of over 104 and we'd giv her Tylenol and it would go down, but 2 hours later it would go back up again and we'd still have to wait 2 more hours until we were allowed to give her more tylenol....so the doctor at the hospital suggested to us to give her Tylenol, then 2 hours later give her Motrin, and two hours after that Tylenol again and so on. I guess Ibuprofen is safe to combine with acetamenophen, but not with Aspirin (a.s.a).....but anyways it worked really good that way! :-) ↑ |
| Thats it for us also tylenal then motrin ↑ |
