rylins teacher tld me they had a fire drill..and he freaked out becautse it hurt his hearing..This of course is not unusual..His hearing is sensitive..When someone screams it hurts..when a loud truck goes by it hurts his ears..but then i started piecing things together..its not just his ears..it his sight, his taste..his smell..he is always complaining or bright lights..things hurt his eyes..He is always saying he smells smells even i can not smell..he says it smells like the beach..or a fire..or a hospital..

I am beginning to think he is sensitive to his senses..and perhaps it is causing him part of his anxiety..Perhaps the dealings of being such a sensitive person are casuing sensory overload..

I dont know..mabe it is thoughts running through my head..but it came to mind..has anyone heard of such a thing as sensory overload...overload with to much chaos..but it is not caused by my senses..his on the otherhand i am thinking is more a physical factor..rather than mental state..

Yes, I actually have heard of such a thing. Many times it is over sensitivity to physical touch, textures etc. Talk to your pediatrician, I am sure he/she will have heard of it as I don't remember too much about it, but I know I have read something before.

My neighbors child is the same way. She was just diagnosed with autism.

He's just hypersensitive - some people are like that. I can't cope with lots of noise and stimulation going on. My eldest son is like this as well. It's not a disorder, it's just that everybody has different responses to stimuli - some people can cope with lots of it, others' can't.
