I answered you in the breastfeeding crowd but I relize you may need to dry up quicker than several months so try only feeding when your breasts are very full and just take enough to take the pain away. Why do you want to dry up anyway? ↑ |
Well my sonis only 3 weeks old. And I really wanted to bf but it was very stressful for me. Ever since I had him he hasnt been able to suck very hard so I had to pump and give it to him through a bottle. And every time I pumped I only got like a 1/2 oz. And it wasnt getting any better. So I would have to pump like 6 times to just get one bottle. My boobs were starting to hurt and my son was hungry and not gaining weight. I have been talking to a latation nurse and she has been trying to help me. But nothing was working to get my milk supply up. I just got tired of the stress of it all. And I also have a two year old daughter that I have to take care of. So I didnt have time to sit on the couch and pump every half hour to get my milk up. I did do it for like 3 days thoughand nothing changed. And when I gave him a formula bottle he was so happy. Content. It was actually the first time he stayed awake for longer than ten min. and didnt cry. ↑ |
I know breatfeeding is hard I have felt the same way but don't give up ↑ |
I just cant do it anymore. Seriously it takes a whole day to just get one bottle so I have to supplement formula anyways. I have tried to get more milk but nothing is working. But now that I quit I feel like I have a gallon in my boobs. Im sure it is only like a 1/2 oz. each. But it feels like much much more. I am really hurting. I dont want to pump cause wont that cause my milk to stay in. Isnt the only way to stop the milk from coming back is to just stop? Or is that worse? I know it hurts like hell!! ↑ |
If you just pump a little your milk will still dry up it just might take a little longer but it will be worth not having the pain ↑ |
Hey welcome back girl! Go to www.uhs.net click on nurse direct- they have a breast feeding consultant/nurse there that you can either call or email and they will tell you how to eleviate the pain ↑ |
maybe you should get a different pump. I am breastfeeding my 3 month old. She won't nurse if she hears a noise (like her 2 brothers). She'll nurse for 1 minute - then pull off, so it's easier to just pump. You have to get a pump that stimulates the let down sensation - then your milk should really start flowing. I get about 6 ounces in 10 minutes. I have a manual Medela breast pump. If you do decide to stop, try cabbage leaves. Put one on each breast, replace it with another cabbage leave when the first one becomes soggy or un-crispy. This really works!! ↑ |
