Im from england and they dont do them here but they apparently sell them in usa and australia.
they were invented by a man whose son almost choked on a piece of fruit,
they are almost like a dummy and have mesh material on the other end in like a tiny ball and you put fruit and veg stuff like that in them.
the holes in the mesh are so tiny that not even seeds can get through them and the babys suck on them and they are good for teething as well.hope i explained that ok lol.
they are made from plastic and mesh material but they are quite small.
when i googled it they look like a dummy so small enough for the babys to hold.

I have deen them and read about them in magazines. They are mesh like cone with a handle on it, and you put food in it and the baby kinda sucks on it. I can't remember what kind of foods they say to put in them. Check www.babycenter.com

Thanks for advice Bmes
my son is 6 months well hes a week of 7 months.
hes been on solids for a while
i think he l be on puree for ever lol. i tried him on some mashy up finely banana but he spat it out but scoffed a whole tin of banana custard in the baby jar.
i will try some of those.
my hubby is worse than me with the choking lol.
im hoping this feeder will take the stress out of it and he can then have the fruit and veggies.
how old are your child/children.

kimie,
my daughter is almost ten months now, but she started solids at 5 months and finger foods at 8 months. if she has a problem with the choking thing then she just may not be ready yet....but keep trying little by little.....it's so nerve racking at first...but now, my daughter is a pro at cherrios....i've only done grated fruit so far, and any veggies cut up really small but still kinda chunky....but small small small. i give her teething biscuits now too, but that wasn't until a little while ago. lol...she had a prblem with the biscuits....but i still let her try it once in awhile..and now..no problem. she still gags a bit when I give her chunky food....like i'll take chicken and rice chopped up....and because it's not smooth she gags a bit, but i just be careful and don't give her big mouth fulls!! just little bit where she gnaws on it a bit with her gums. just be careful to not use that mesh thing too much, or they might become reliant on it and not want to try to eat the real way!!! the mesh thing i think is a great idea to help them with their teething and lean FLAVORs of food...but they'll never learn that way....and with finger foods, it also helps their hand eye coordination. :-)

Bmes Yes i dont want to end up using it like a dummy
i think im going to have a hard enough time getting rid of that lol.
im going to try him on banana again.god yes it is so nerve racking,Ive an older son but it was a good 4 and half years ago that i did the solids with him and ive forgotten it all.
Icant even remember what i had for dinner last night lol
the first time i tried him on some mash that was not quite as smooth he vomited everywhere plus a good bit of milk and some of it came out of his nose so Ive not tried that since lol.
Sunshine lol yes i saw loads of things that i wanted on there too.
thanks again for all your advice ladies.
Im off to bed now but hope to chat to you all soon.
