One of my best friends has 4 kids, 3 are school age and she just spent $200.00 on school supplies and shoes. She had to buy things for each girls class room like dry erasers and 10 glue sticks that were $1.60 each. My girls aren't in school and my step-sons mom takes care of all that, all we do is buy his school clothes for when he is here. I couldn't get over it!! But, want she does, because she is a single mom, the Saint Nick program gives her $210.00 a year to spend on school supplies. She just picks everything out and takes it back to the lay away department. See if your area has something like that.

OH WE DO. BUT i DID OK THIS YEAR. i KNOW I THINK OF THOSE SINGLE PARENTS AND I FEEL FOR THEM. BUT WHY DOES THAT SCHOOL NOT HAVE EVERYONE BUY THERE OWN GLUE. THATS NOT RIGHT. WE HAVE TO FURNISH 3 BOXES OF KEENEX IS ALL. FOR THE WHOLE CLASS.
WE HAV A TOY STORE IN THE TOWN NEXT TO US. THY HAVE USED TOYE IN THE BASEMENT. WE TAKE GOOD CARE OF OUR TOYS. SO IVE ALWAYS SOLD AND DONE WELL AT MY GARAGE SALES. BUT THIS YEAR I TOOK OVER 2 CAR LOADS AND MADE 200.00. THAT HELPED SO MUCH. I STILL HAVE MORE TO GO. WE ARE HAVING A GARAGE SALE BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS. I SHOULD PICK UP EXTRA CASH THEN. THEN THIS FALL AFTER BEING HOME FOR OVER TEN YEARS IM JOB HUNTING. WITH THE GAS PRICES AND EVERYTHING ON THE RISE I HAVE TO. AT LEAST PART TIME. BUT IM READY ANYWAY.

We have a brand new grade school, it is bigger than the high school. It is in the top 5 biggest grade schools in Illinois. Anyway, we have 3 nuclear (sp) plants in our area, and the biggest donated a crap load of money to build this new school and then promised so much money to the school each year. Well, that plant got shut down and now that money that was promised is no longer. The city can;t afford the school as it is. So now they have the students supply alot of the supplies for the classroom. Our real estate taxes were around $3000.00 last year and $1500.00 of that went to the school.
