Help!! I have been a nurse for thirty years. 56yr young. I had been working psych for past 10 years. I became increasingly depressed and was too into everything else to really seek the help I needed. I made a very poor judgement call and overdosed and stayed in icu a week and the psych unit for two
weeks. I took a year off to seek treatment and heal my soul which was so wounded. I know Wha Wha Wha. The problem is
I am being severly penalized for being ill. I am doing fine now and oh so ready to get back to my profession. However, no one will hire me because it has been a lapse of 23 months between
jobs. There was no record or problem with my license. I am good standing. I wonder which states have the greatest shortage of nurses. I have tried to even switch specialties, namely dialysis and I guess the age factor may play a role. However, I am in good physical shape and mentally better than ever. Why my fellow brothers and sisters of the healing arts am I having such a difficult time? Thank you for helping me to understand what is going on and How I might remedy the crummy situation! ↑ |

| working in the nursing hm or extend care is not bad it is ver satisfing, the residents get to know and you build a relationship w/ them. Just remember that the residents come 1st and you are there for them and you have to look out 1st and they come 1st what you feel in gut and heart is right go with and if you see something wrong then you reort it no matter what ↑ |

| I recently worked at a hospital that performed the aarod procedure on drug addicts.These patients are very difficult to care for.After the procedure these patients are wild,often they are confused,incoherent and combative.They often required restraints or 24 hour sitters for the first 8 hours post procedure.I dread taking care of these patients. ↑ |

lizzy, you are the stupid one. I have been a nurse for several years
and there may be a reason why the nurse was giving insulin with juice. I do it alot when the patient isnt eating. You cant give insulin if the patient isnt eating or there could be very serious consequences. I am tired of patients and family trying to tell us what to do and think they know more than we do when we are the ones who are educated formally on the subject. No wonder there is a nursing shortage, who wants to be abused?!!1 ↑ |

hi ..im chey from philippines... i graduated mg nursing course at the age of 21.. im happy of course because i finished my studies and im sure my parents will be very proud of me and above all, i can now give myself time to look for a boyfriend.. then i met this guy..he's 8 years older than me... we started having a date, eating somewhere, watching movies.. i find him so nice... until he became my boyfriend...
...im about to take my nursing exam when i found out that im pregnant.. i was so scared.. very scared so i decided to have an abortion .. why should i tell my bf about my plan? he didnt know that im pregnant anyway...
...one day im doing a computer research about the images of the fetus inside the womb of a mother...a tear fell from my eyes .. i couldnt imagine doing such a thing that would kill my baby..so innocent and a god's best gift...
.... that night i set a date with my bf.. i told him i had a best news for him... he's so happy after knowing the news.. i can always remember what he has told me that night " you and our baby were the best thing that came into my life" ... God is really good... he's there for me especially the times that im confused and scared...
....my baby now is 7 months old...im now a 23-year old housewife, a good mother to my baby and a lovable wife to my husband..
....im planning to take my nursing exam this june 2009... i always pray to God to help me pass the exam coz this is what im dreaming of since i was a child---to be a registered nurse!!

| Hi, to all you wonderful nurses! I see Kate is concern with working with sick people while pregnant. I know it is scary. I have been there. Kate, just think that while you are in the hospital you know what type of environment you are in and could prepare accordingly. For example, if someone is on respiratory isolation you have the proper gear to care for that patient while protecting yourself and your baby. You could also ask for your assignments to be reconsidered because of your pregnancy. Where I work they are very flexible with pregnant nurses. But the most important thing for you to do is to use all gears needed for a given situation and always wash your hands. If you have a garage try keepin a bin for your hospital clothes and remove them as soon as get home including your shoes. If you don't have a garage keep your hospital shoes in a special bag in the trunk of your car so you don't track bacteria and germs into your home. Use lysol before you put hospital shoes away. Try not to stress about it, your immune system is your plan B. ↑ |
