I 'm trying to figure out hte same thing. I just started my job and they went through many hoops to get me here. I will they react if I tell them I'm pregnant? They may feel I won't perform my best or I may get too sick or I may not be realiable. What do I do? ↑
Go lost of people in the same boat I think I'm pregnant and started new job 3 Jan (1month ago) and also have a 10 month old I'm soooooo shocked as been on the pill. Want the baby but don't know what to do about work so worried. ↑
wow, i am in the same situaton as i start a new jb on monday and just found out I am 5 weekss preg ↑
LEGALLY, an emoyer cannot fire you for being pregnant, they also cannot keep a job from you if you are pregnant, although lots doo keep jobs from pregnant women and you cant really prove thatthey kept it from you for that reason but they cannot fire you if you are already hired! If they do, threaten to take them to Labor Relations and they will think twice. Plus they have no reason to fire you as long as you can keep busy and are still a good employee...People think that their employers dont want to pay a new employee maternity leave but its not them that pays it, the government does so they have no reason to fire you ↑
hi kelly, i am in the same situation, im 14 weeks pregnant and havent yet started my job. my midwife did tell me though that by law i don't have to tell my employer until ive had my 12 week scan when we know everything is ok and how far on i am. but after that its probably an idea to be honest with them i think im going to have to tell my employer this week coz im showing now and im really worried about it because i havent started. but im sure you'l be fine they have to accomodate for you now. ↑
Hello,
I just went through a real mess with another employer. I was on the job for 2 years, and found out I was pregnant about 13 weeks ago. I told that employer when I was around 7 weeks. Well, sure enough, they "found" a reason to "make me" resign.
Now, I have just found a new job, I am 16 weeks today. I am a bigger girl, and can pass for "being chubby", but I know in a few more weeks I am going to show. I did not tell my boss during the interview, infact, I was able to hide it very well because we sat at a restaurant.
I start on Monday, and the job requires me to wear a uniform. A shirt.
There is a three month probabtion, and I am not sure what to do. I feel that I already got "burned" from my last job, and don't want to be out there trying to find a job at 7 months!!!!!
I am thinking that I should give it atleast a month to prove my work ethic, but am scared at the same time, just incase I need to ask for larger uniforms ect...
Any suggestions ladies???? I am going to be a single mom, and need this job due to serious finacial obligations.
Thankyou!!!! ↑ |
Please can someone advise me, i started a new job 3 weeks ago with the Police as admin and I have recently found out last week that i am pregnant which im really happy about. I dont want to tell my employers until im past the 12 weeks mark,im also on a 6 month probation and i think so far i am doing well in my job,but im worried that when i tell them i will still be in my probation period, and im worried that they may decide to get rid of me,i didnt know i was pregnant when i first started. Therefore im worried and confused where i stand regarding my probation period and telling them that i am pregnant????? ↑

I was just hired for a mat leave position and I just found out that I too am pregnant. I feel terrible and am not sure that I will be able to collect maternity leave myself. As far as I'm concernened things happen, we are all human. If you prove yourself a good employee they should just be happy you're there and if you do a goodjob they will just appriciate that your there. ↑

I was in the same predicament too. Tell them when you have past the 3 months period. I was 2 months and knew I was pregnant when I got the job. I only told them in my 4th month. I have been back at work for 7 months now and want to get pregnant again - will they just think i am a baby machine ? ↑
