I am a working mom of and my son is 4 and my daughter is will be 3 soon. My son has ashma and recently got pneumonia. I've been taking a lot of days off work - my work is frustrated and my family thinks I should quit my job. I've been to the hospital and they think he will get better soon and just needs a couple of weeks rest at home. How do other mothers manage work/family pressures when their kids get sick???

I work full time and when my daughter gets sick it is a day by day basis on how I handle it. You didnt say if you have an other half but her dad and I try to split up the time so that Its not so hard on one of us. We are also blessed with living near family that can help. I hate to leave her but our family depends on my job so I try my best to get her taken care of while shes sick. As far as quiting your job only you know what is right for you and your family situation. If financially I could quit I would . I hope your son gets better.

Well, you have to decide if you can afford to quit to take all the time you need to take care of your kids and if you cant quit then you need to find a sitter who can help you out in times of need so that you can go to work but do it before you get fired and the decisions made for you.If you really need to be with your kids, get on welfare and live in subsidized housing.

When my kids get sick I keep them in my car parked outside my place of work. I keep going out to give them juice and food and they don't like it but I have to go to work don't I?

That is the most rediculous, obserd thing I have ever heard of. Either you are lieing or your kids should be taken away

Quit your job? any reasonable boss should understand your situation and allow you to reduce your hours or at least keep your job open for you. When my son is ill i really just GET ON WITH IT. Take each day at a time forget about work, look after the kids and ignore anyone who is not helping! Some how everything works it's self out and you are back to the old routine in no time, the trick is not to get stressed, or beat your self up, for not being super human!

I think that you should lay the law down with work and tell them that your children come first!!!!!!!
