Im a stay at home mom. I hear many people say that staying at home with the kids isnt a job. I think that is a load of crap. Just because we dont get paid to do it. It still counts as work. We have to clean, cook, do the dishes, and get the children ready for the day. We do this 24/7. The thing that bothers me the most is i hear this from alot of men. Maybe if we let them take our place for a week. Then they will have a little more respect for what we do.Maybe then they would realize that we keep the house running. And without us things would be a mess. Does anyone else feel the same way.

Lady, just because something sucks doesn't mean it's a job. Yes, of course no one would trade places with you - who wants to scrub toilets and wipe bottoms all day for free? But it's not a job. Showering is also not a job. Neither is eating or breathing. Taking care of your biological functions and keeping your home and offspring neat is what all creatures do. You don't consider a dog licking its balls a job, do you? Yes, its hard, yes it sucks. Its what all people DO. In addition to that, some people also have a JOB. You do not. I know you want to feel important and valued, but pretending that you have a job just makes you look silly. If you want to be respected for a job, get a job. If you want to be respected for what you do, tell your husband. But really, you don't do anything extraordinary. You have a home you dont pay into, a car you got for free, money to do all your errands that you don't have to worry about earning, and kids that YOU wanted. So now you're supposed to be somehow extra special? Why?

its people like you i dipise. if stay at home moms got paid for what we do . we would make a hell of alot more than everyone else. Plus i know that i am resected and loved. i dont need some close minded person judging me and telling me that what i do is not a job or isnt important. i dont care what you think

Bennetth, don't worry about og217, she doesn't have a kid, nor does she want one. Personally, she needs to realize that she shouldn't even be on this forum, considering it is BABYCROWD, something she doesn't know about, nor ever will. She is just on here to criticize everyone else, cause she has no responsiblities in life, except her own selfishness and hanging out with hubby. Maybe if she had a kid, she'd have less time to nose into something she knows NOTHING ABOUT. She's only wasting her own time, and sounds like a very bitter and selfish person. Don't get all hyped up on her. She hasn't a clue.

My hubby got a much higher appreciation for me when I had to be hospitalized for 8 days. He now agrees that he has no clue what he'd do without me around. He said he knows for sure he couldn't be a single dad, and knows that no matter what I do for our family staying at home, no matter how little it may seem to others, is a big deal. He is also very happy that we've made the decision for me to stay home with the kids, cause he realized how things get when you have a kid, but have to work and come home to the big mess that has been piling up, cause no one has had time to clean or do laundry cause they've been gone at work all day. Also, the big pile of bills that is almost late, cause everyone is too tired to remember to get them paid, etc. He now admits that this house stays on its foundation because of me. So, og217, TAKE THAT!!
