Name: lucinda [ Original Post ] hi there, was wondering if anyone could help. i am currently pregnant with my second child 22 weeks. with my first child i had a straight forward normal birth but i had a retained placenta afterwards. i had to have it removed manually under spinal block, wasn't pleasant at all. i am now dreading it happening another time and would like to know if anyone has had this happen to them second time around. please give me some advice as i don't know whether to go through having a c- section. thanks lu ↓

Lucinda....I experienced the same thing with my first birth. They put me completely under to remove mine and did 2 DNC's. I saw my daughter briefly after delivery, and then never her until 3 hours later. I only have 1 daughter. I asked my OBGYN and they said the chances of that happening again are slim. Have you talked to your OBGYN about this? It's hard to find stuff out there about retained placentas? We're you given any explanation as to why this happened? ↑
