My husband and I are planning to start trying too. My job is very demanding during Dec to May and we have to plan this for hopefully a 4 month time frame...otherwise it would be SUPER difficult for me... on top of the normal difficulties. Anyway, I am planning to be off hormonal birth control for 6 months prior and start taking basal temp each morning for 3 months prior to get a pattern of ovulation. We are planning on having lots of fun during this process too, but I don't see anything wrong with trying to make this as productive as possible too! Good luck... Any advice for me??

Just a small tip... Paying close attention to your body can be a great help when trying to concieve. I get a suble pain on one side of my abdomen when I am ovulating on that side and after a few months I realized that this pain was unconsiously making me feel icky enough that I didn't want sex during this time, which was *totally* defeating the purpose! LOL - Don't obsess, but getting to know your body can help you make some informed choices and (in my case), if you are faced with problems, it can help diagnose your infertility issues a lot faster! (Which by the way, I don't wish on *any* of you!) Best wishes!!!

what about ovulation tests? the strips? I'm thinking of trying those out. Also, I read that taking prenatal vitamins for 4 months prior to conception decreases neural tube defects like spina bifida, etc. So take those vities!

I read online that you should have sex every other day in order to achieve maximal results but my doctor told me that would decrease the sperm count of my husband and make it less likely? What have your doctors told you??? Thanks!!
