I have a 5 year old Kindergarten that was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. After a lot of soul searching, crying, research, and consultations, my husband and I along with my childs peditrician put him on Focalin XR. The medication seems to be helping with his symptions in school and we have seen his focus increase and impulsivity decrease during school hours. Although this has not been a magic bullet, and has helped my son improve his behaivior in school. My son is now involved in an after school track team. Wer are now experiencing in some of the same struggles we experienced inschool before medication. My son is impulsive, squirmy, can''t focus on the coach's instructions, etc... He is getting frustrated, his coaches ae frustrated, and so are we. We know the physical activity is good for him, and he loves the program. We have not discussed this with his pediatrician, but do any other parents have kids that they give additional medication too to "get through" after school activities. Is this common, unusual? any help would be great.
