Hi there. my son is having major problems at school, yelling at kids, hitting, spitting, every day, and it is definitely impulsive, not aggressive. he has been diagnosed as ADHD by his pediatrician. I have tried an IEP for the last two years, and now my son is in kindergarten. My ex-husband is very concerned about long term effects and he just doesn't believe in medicating. Can anyone tell me about their personal experience at making this decision in a divorced family?

my son who is 8 is taking ritalin for about 3 weeks now and it wears off at about 4:00 which is fine for the school but he has a younger brother that is picking up his behaviour, so we are still feeling out these meds.
