Welcome to my world...it's hell! My daughter will be 11 in February and we've been dealing with this attitude and behavior pretty hard for about a year now. We've taken her to see a family counselor with no help. Not the counselor's fault, my kid just doesn't want to put fort any effort, she wants me to though. We started her on medication (all natural) in August and it made a world of difference, but lately I think her bodies changing and the meds aren't working as well as they once did. Not to mention she has a father (my ex) that is a loser and no good for her. I've tried a number of things, but nothing really seems to work. It might for a while, but not in the long run. I'm worried about our relationship and how the older she gets the worse it's gonna get. I'll admit this hear, because no one knows me...but....I can't stand to be around her. It hurts me to say that and it makes me cry, but she has made day to day life so hard that I just want to keep my distance.

I have a 12 year old step daughter with adhd and on adderall she is just like your daughter. We deal with lies , outburst, tearing up her room, screaming ...everyday. One minute shes ok and the next an explosion. I also have a 8 year old on adhd med's who lives with his daddy & has sever behaviour issues. I can feel where you are coming from. Hang in there never give up hope.

Your daughter sounds exactly like mine. I try very hard to make a big deal out ofthe things that she is good at or has done well at anyhting, but to her it still seesm like no big deal for her at all. She went to school today but was tearful in homeroom but she didn't know why. Any Moms' out there with ANY suggustions?

My son is 10 yrs. old & goes thru the same thing. I'm a rather organized single parent who has taught him "If it doesn't get put away--It gets thrown away". (I let him see me stuff things in a garbage bag & hide them in my closet-out of reach) I've turned it into an award system for which he is given a specific time to put away his clothes; toys; papers, etc. or something will be taken away--Making it HIS choice!!
When he does the task that is asked -he can pick one of his items back. It really works for my son!

Well if she is around 12ish or older it will be her hormones . For example one minute she can be happy and joyful but the next she will be moody and frustrated . Don't worry its natural . She will grow out of it . Its just one of the natural things in the teenage Change . Her moods will be up and down like a rollercoaster ! Its possible that she is hitting the early stages of puberty . Don't worry about it. Hope this helps !

Don't be frustrated about your daughter. There is a possibility that her behavior is due to being a pre-teenager. It might be a phase or something. But, you can try to take her to the doctor which what I did few years back and had my EEG taken. This is to examine brain wave patterns as an alternative therapy for those with ADHD. Study of the brain wave patterns is needed for those undergoing music therapy for ADHD. This help increase attention and focus on what they are interested about. http://music.sound-add-adhd-trea
