My 7 year old daughter also has ADHD. She to is on Ritalin 30mg LA once daily. God its hard to offer suggestions as all kids are different. Some times it just nice to know that your not alone and can talk to someone when things arn't going well. I know myself I hate to bother people and sound like I'm complaining. Prob the most important thing is for you and your hubby to be on the same page and work together as a united front, with by daughter the minute she sees a chink in our armour she goes for it. Her doctor has also said she shows signs of ODD however we have had no formal diagnosis of that. I understand what your saying about doctors, to us they have been a joke they just dont listen. Please feel free to get in touch any time you want to chat .

Reserch diet restrictions. alot of times diet plays a big part in aggression. it wont be all your answers but may help. my son that takes meds cant have hotdogs, red dye, nore alot of sugar. after he eats a hotdog he gets really aggressive.processed foods are hard on both my children. one time I was making alot of boxed foods for dinner such as macaroni and cheese, and them one skillet dishes. they were bouncing off the walls and very arguementive. and they never eat at school I pack there lunches. I hope this helps

My 9 yr old son was diagnosed in December with ADHD. We started with adderall xr and that made him sad and weepy. then switched him to concerta 18 mg in February and raised it in May to 27 mg. Last week he started repeating himself constantly. Like a needle skipping on a record. Doctor said to take him off for a few days and the symptoms subsided. Not as bad. Put him back on it Monday and today they've started up again. I was reading one of the messages and I noticed someone talked about hot dogs. Last week he started eating hot dogs every day and am wondering if that could have anything to do with the change. I guess the next step would be a neurologist. Any information would be much appreciated.

I'd suggest you see a Developmental Pediatrician for testing and see if this is a true diagnosis as ADHD usually isn't diagnosed until they are older. You may also need to work with a psychologist to help with behavior modification therapy. I'd also change Dr's and get someone who is supportive of you as parents. I local support group would also do wonders. It would help you release you aren't alone out there.
Best of luck to you.

Maybe you could up his dose. My 6 yr old has adhd and odd and is on 30 mg of concerta. If he goes on any less he is worse behaved and mean to his brother as well.
