But Depakote is a mood stabilizar used to help bipolar patients. Can any one help me? I am about to lose it.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm very surprised your daughter has been on medicine since five. Depakote is a sedative drug. My brother was on it and so was I for awhile and it made me feel tired all the time like I was in a fog. It sounds to me you need to find another doctor and therapist. They aren't doing their job. At home you can do some things to change the enviorment. It won't heal her but it could calm her down. I took the ringer off the phone, light candles at night and put soft musci on..my son loved intrustmental and opera musci. Sometimes at night he would have earphones on to listen to Charlot Churh.. I also, learned not to react to his moods. It's hard work but it need to be done...A calm mom makes a calm child....YIKES These are just some suggestions but don't waste time in looking for new doctors because you need a good support team.

Hi, I too have two children with ADHD/ODD. My son takes Focalin XR. It seems to work very well. You're right Depakote is a mood stabilizer for bipolar patients. I would take her to another doctor for a second opinion. If she is having all the symptoms of bipolar my guess is then she probably does have it. If there is any family history of bipolar/manic depressive disorder then she has a good chance of having it. It could even be a distant relative like your grandmother, etc...

Look for another psychiatrist and tell them about her symptoms.
Go with your gut feeling, it's usually right. I will pray that God will help you and your daughter.

Remember: Keep the faith.
With God all things are possible.
God will get you through this.
