Hi, my name is Christine. I am studying childcare in Cork, and I am currently completing an assignment on ADHD. However, I am looking for some information from a parent of a child with this condition on the following:
1. How it has affected their all-round development
2. If you / your child are receiving support (financially, from organisations, resouces, services etc..)
3. If your child has an IEP (individual educational plan), and what are some of the main goals of it (if possible)

I would be ever so greatful if a parent out there would share this information with me, as I do not know anyone personally that I could ask. Hope to hear from someone soon, thank you!

Yes I have a 6 yr old son with ADHD. He was late for doing pretty much everything, from walking to talking and now reading and fine and gross motor skills. He is in first grade and recieves special help from a reading specialist during school hours and fine motor skill occupational therapist. His first grade teacher is wonderful and honest. He clues me into the progress he makes as well as any set backs. We are hoping to have him caught up atleast in the genral area of writing and reading as other first graders by the end of the year. Since we have started him on medication Concerta he lacks so much impulsive actions and has more concentration and does better at home and in school. We have not recieved financial help other than while I attend school I have him on Blue Chip medical insurance. Hope I have helped :o)
