Hello:

I am a senior nursing student at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. I am working on my honors research project which will be looking at the relationship between the non-birth parent and child. The study will look to see if there is a difference between the bonding relationship of a non-birth parent who is a heterosexual male versus a non-birth parent who is a homosexual female to see if the infant bonds better with a female versus a male non-birth parent or if it just depends on the "nurturing habits" rather than the sex of that parent.

The survey will be anonymous and would take about 5 minutes to fill out and both parents need to be available to fill out the survey. I can mail out the survey along with a return envelop. The criteria is listed below.

Inclusion criteria: A healthy baby born either by spontaneous vaginal delivery or cesarean section to a couple 18 years and older. The couple needs to have lived in the same residence as a couple from the time of birth until the child was 2 years old. The child needs to be 2 years of age and under and the first and only child for both parents. Exclusion: Male/Male couples, babies born that were unhealthy and were not sent home with the mother within 3-5 days. No couples with other children.

If you are interested please e-mail me your mailing address and I can send out the survey to you. If you have any questions please e-mail me at [email protected].

Thanks a lot,
Marion Leary
