I am confused about my child because he has MANY autistic symptoms, but he can talk very well (and does it all day long)? In fact, he has since he was 10 months old! Does anyone else's child do the same?

it may depend on what degree of autism they have. asperger kids are regular chatterboxes

Yes! Based on info I have the Autism Spectrum is varied and some have no language and others have fantastics language skills( and everything in between). The ones that are very good talkers seem to start talking very well very early as you have indicated (10 mths). Im from Australia have a 4yr old with ASD, I have learnt heaps about the disorder and am sure there is heaps more to learn, I would love to continue to discuss anything else.

Hello niffer66,

Hello there. What are the autistic symptoms youre talking about?

There is a type of autism that the child may talk a lot and may talk about the same subject all the time also. What does he talk about?

Happy to help!

Many autistic children talk very well, mine does, but he doens't always make sense, lots of pretending, we talk a lot about what is real, a good speech pathologist could tell you what kind of speech he has.

hello niffer66 my son has autism considered high functioning and he talks all the time he does have a slight speech problem on certain letter and thier sounds but other than that he is very vocal he has been in a normal class room sitting since kindergarten and just this year 5th grade for him i put him in special ed because the pace got to fast for him to absorb the processes of certain classes like math to many process and my son completely shuts down and i wanted him to learn the processes in his own time if he gets them fine if he dont they cant say he didnt try with his other disorders the docs have said that devin may never get passes division in math and science may be a challenge for him but i have faith that devin will get through but only when he is ready the world will have to wait for his mind to put it all together,

My little boy didn't used to be able to speak (lost his words at 18 months). Now he speaks and sings a lot. There are many times when my husband and I have to actually plead with him to stop singing. I can't tell you how many times I have heard him sing "It's a small world"!

Maybe your son was born with it and has asperberger's this would be great for you because the fact is he will probably be fine and extremely smart..The regressive form of Austic children due to mercury/vaccination quit talking...
