I have a 131/2 year old son with aspergers who is very little for his age. He is getting very verbally aggressive and will refuse to do any homework etc. He has suffered alot at school from bullying. I suppose I have always protected him but he refuses to do any work with me and is such a drain. I've looked into homeschooling as he doesn't like going to school. He says that he doesn't talk to anyone at school because they are all idiots and no one wants to listen to him. I feel so sad for him, but he treats me so badly when I try to help him. Any ideas about homeschooling and how to get him to do his set work?

Hi, Spencer - is there any chance your son might qualify for a mentor, either within or outside of your school system? I know most Aspies have a particular area of interest/"expertise" -- if you were able to find someone in your community with the same interest, who was also interested in mentoring your son, that could be a great outlet for both of them. Good luck! :)

Hi My name is Samantha am I am 13 and I am homeschool and I am really petite however i have never had a problem with bulling I just turn the other cheek of i stick up for my self verbally. I am homeschooled my self and totally recomend it. I go through an online program and everything is free. Even a computer if you need one. I faught my mom on this because I didn't want to leave my friends in public school the truth is the wern't really my friends at all. My grades were allso falling I have sraight A' again though. This is a great program and even in my small town this national program has two teachers. both my mom and i are very happy with this program. The program is called K12 and which ever state your in depends on what school you go to. I recomend the virtual academies I am located in In California so I go to California virtual Academy.
K12's phone number is 1-866-YOUR-K12 so give them a call. Oh and It sounds like Spencer isn't intrigued by public school and doesn't really relate to the kids in it.It also seems like he isn't really motivated and doesn't have a lot of confidence in himself. Though this could be from him not really relating to other kids and thinking he is an odd ball. Looks like he is reaching out through ahis temper. So I would really recomend K12 he can meet homeschoolers in the area and go on outings and so forth so give it a try. Note it will take a while to deschool your child taht is what my teacher always a says anyway. If you need anything else my E-mail is [email protected]. Believe in yourself Spencer. if he ever needs to talk to someone his age or anything have him e-mail me. that is if it is ok with you! Good Luck Hope to hear from you soon!
Yours Truly

My name is Paul. I remember I was at that age as well. I thought about getting homeschooled but I never did because of the fear of not graduating with my class. I was bullied a lot during those years but I just had to ignore it.
