Hi, so happy I came across this forum. I have a newly 3 y/o son. He is delayed in speech by over a year and was evaluated this past Oct. He was transitioned from home speech therapy to SP ED preschool with a limited size class of 8 or less and speech 1x per week. He is not potty trained at all and has no desire to even try. He repeats a word over and over and over until you repeat it back to him.
He has nasty meltdowns and now has begun to hit, spit and he screams. We have an appointment at the Center of Autism at the Cleveland Clinic, it's just the waiting game now. He had tubes put in 11/05 after having about 18 ear infections.
He doesn't carry or can't carry a conversation. He can watch the same show over and over and over....If change happens he has a melt down.
I believe I already know what it is but would like your opinion. Thanks...

I think you should wait for the professionals. You can't get a good evaluation over the internet from people who don't Know your child. Hang in there.

Thanks....He has been evaluated already and started SPED, his Peds Dr has already informed me of her diagnose and has now refered him to the Center for Autism.
I've been reading these posts and it's like I'm reading all about my son. It's still all very new and some what confusing. Just waiting for the offical diagnoses, so we as a family can get him the proper help he needs.

After the 12 mos. vaccines my son gradually slipped into autism. He was head-banging, hand-flapping, twirling, lost speech, lost eye contact and he just withdrew.

Now two years later.... no head-banging, no twirling, no flapping, has eye contact and is starting to verbalize again. And... he has Down Syndrome to boot. :) Yes... even kids with DS get autism. Actually they get it at a higher rate.

What helped him? First I give God praise.... our son wouldn't be here without Him and we prayed and I believe He guided us. Second... supplements. Especially cod liver oil. I recommend Green Pastures CLO with the X factor. Check out Dr. Mary Megson's work on the web. http://www.diet-studies.com/megson.html Our Jack healed gradually... but he is healing. I actually had to make myself GET USED TO him not twirling everything any more!

Also check out Dr. Amy Yasko's work. www.holistichealth.com

We give Jack alot of supps - cod liver oil, probiotic, magnesium citrate, tart cherry and recently we added cilantro. He takes some other things too but each child is unique. It helps to find a good naturopathic MD or chiropractor.

Don't give up. There is hope! And... I will be frank here.... many mainstream doctors know squat about how to heal autism. Don't let that throw you. There are people who do know how to help. God bless you! Love, Jack's Mom :)

ps - Jack used to have a fav show he would watch over and over. now.... he watches many shows. :)
