This is really bothering me. I have an Autistic son that is 11 years old. He has always been a very loving boy. This year we have seen many changes in him he has become self abusive and hums constantly. He also will not do things with the family that he would normally do. Car rides he wil cry and tear off window tent or destroy the seats. I want to attend his class to see what is going on in there maybe some changes that have made him this upset. Last year he loved school and would get excited when the bus would come. Now he screams NO and throws his clothes down and it is a struggle to get him there. He is now medicated for these reasons. I am concerned that something may be going on at school. The school has let me in but only a few times and only one hour at a time. By law aren't I allowed to go for one full day to see what is going on and what they are providing for him? Please help me I have been all over the net looking for laws pertaining to this matter and have found none "YET" I plan on still looking. I am going to call an attorney tomorrow also. Thank You, Shann

Hi Shann,
Where do you live? a word of warning read my title "my 7 year old son was assulted...." The changes in my son are devistating, Do not give up !!!!!! Check every step from the moment he leaves you until he returns home after school. Do not let someone tell you you are over reacting or being too protective of your son, Thats your job !!!!!!

Hello,
you should find an advocate (family advocate) to accompany you to your child's IEP's- they are usually incredibly well informed on all rights and laws of both school and students. You can find them online by typing in "advocate-autism" or something related and it should give you options by zip code. I hope this helps.
