I have a gut feeling that my child is autistic, but I am so confused because despite all of the non-typical things he does, he does engage in inaginative play and he seems to communicate well. Does anyone have any information that they could share with me? It is desperately needed!!

I wonder what makes you think your child may be autistic though. If he has imaginative play, and communicates well, there may not be too much to worry about. It is entirely possible that he may simply have autistic tendancies. That is, that he may share some of the non-typical mannerisms of a child on the autistic spectrum, but not be affected enough to be considered on that same spectrum himself.

Hi Hemiola. The reason that I believe something is going on is because; with the exception of lack of clumsiness, an excellent vocabulary, and some imaginative play, he does just about everything else that a child on the spectrum would. So, I have been thrown off a bit.
