How can you tell if your infant has this disease? What are the symptoms? He is 9 weeks old and it seems like he is not there. They tell us he has acid reflux. It doesn't make sense.

I have a 10 year old niece who was adopted when she was 6 weeks old. When she was less than a year old she used to speak. when she turned 2 when you would call her she would not look at you. Is this a a case of austim. Is their also a diet for this.

I wrote about my niece who is 10 years old. I also have a 20 year old daughter who is severe austic. I would like to know was it due to lack of oxygen when they waited to long for an emergency c-section?

I am new to this forum and I noticed that there are some parents with older "autistic" children.
My husband and I have a 15 year old autistic son who is high functioning.
I would LOVE to chat on this forum! I only wish I had this type of forum when my son was younger.
I'm curious if anyone here has a child in high school or college.

I hope to hear from you!!

I wrote about my niece. She is 10 years old. She was talking when she was less than a year old. When she was 2 she just stop talking. Now that she is 10. With all the speech that she is getting she is approving alot. She was adopted when she was 6 weeks old. Does it have to do with the vaccines? If anyone wants to e-mail me they can a [email protected]

My husband and I have a 2 year old girl who was just diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. We do not have any support group options in our area. I saw this and thought that it could be helpful to talk to other parents who know what you are going through. Safety issues, empathy and potty training are all things that we would like to talk to other parents about. Thanks!

Connie alot of parents cant really tell until their child is around 2 years of age. Sometimes I think that babies look spaced out because maybe they are intaking the new world around them and thinking. I have seen some babies that show no expression and sometimes it can be gas they could be concentrating on. It may sound silly but until he shows speech delay or developmental delays I dont think you should worry yourself too much. Boys sometimes learn slightly slower than girls. Be patient and wait til you see that he is having a hard time talking or functioning normal day things. I have heard of children not talking until the age 2 and then one day they wont stop talking. Good luck. Dont take life for granted and just be thankful for this precious baby to be in your life.

This is for " Nicole Singh " I asked my sons therapist and she said that is unlikely. I pushed for 3 hours before they gave me a c-section and my sons head looked horrible and badly mis-shaped. Which of course it shaped to normal after a few hours. His therapist said that if that was the case he would probably have alot of other more serious health concerns. Still born, among other problems. I hope this helps you. I would ask a doctor who specializes in the nerological field

I am a special education major and need to conduct an interview with a parent of a child with autism. I know it may be annoying, but I hope someone would help me. I desperately feel that more teachers need to be better equipped to teach children with autism.
