My son learn this first from bumble bee video. Also my ST teach him big ball, small ball, big spoon, little spoon, big shoe, small shoe, big car, little car, big train, small train using the real object. Tall and short. I teach him mum is tall, my son is short. Big doll is tall, little doll is short. We do some measurement on the wall. Also www.ixl.com web site has a lot of example for pre school or kindergarten. You can choose your favor thing to teach. You can get about 20 questions free. They give you a lot of idea to teach too. I think they give you middle as well. You just tell him the answer first. A lot of practice, he will get it.

hi ya all my son is 3yrs and has autism he is a very clever little boy!! he got the concept of big and small through pecs! my support worker and i made up small paper animals and lamanated there he has a big and small cat a big and small elephant and a big and small duck (each pair is the same other than size) and than with the pecs we made cards ourselves as the pecs ones are confusing when if comes 2 big and small!!! we showed him big and small and made a point of saying (i.e) alfie look at the big elephant than he would use his pecs and ask for the big or small animal but if he asked 4 the big 1 meaning the small 1 we gave him the big 1 so he got the understanding within 3 weeks he got the difference!! i must stress some children it can take months but its all about finding the key to unlock your childs understanding its also very important to decide how your going to say it if you want to use the word small dont say little keep to small as this will confuse him xx
