I have a 2 year old newly diagnosed son, who is healthy- no ear infections, no immune system problems, no GI symptoms at all. All the reading and research I've done about supplements and vitamins seems to only pertain to autistic kids who have other health issues going on. Has anyone tried diet changes, supplements or vitamins in a healthy child and seen any positive efffects?

i have! we started the gluten free diet on the 1st of the month and our son has almost stopped spinning in circles. i don't know for sure if this is why, but we will continue and also eliminate milk eventually. our boy has excema-getting allergy testing and a chromosome analysis soon, our son is very healthy too...except for the excema and like 2 ear infections-he turned 3 on valentine's day...i will be around if you want to chat more about our kiddos, ~mindy

Yes, yes, yes!! Hi, my name is Dawn. My son is very healthy and autistic. We took him off milk and it helped him to not be so hyper. Also, we went to a nutritionist that told us to give him Children's DHA (Omega 3, cod liver fish oil), 2 in the morning and 2 at night. This can be purchased at Sprouts. Also, give just a general everyday vitamin. NO-artificial flavorings or colorings, limited to no sugar, no nitrates, and no preservatives. She wants him to have free range eggs and grass fed beef, which my son will not touch because of the texture. My son aslo eats a lot of chips, doritos to be exact. She said to give him stone ground chips or blue corn chips.

This transition is not easy. He fought me for about 2 weeks before being okay with some of it. But it is a start, some is better than none. He was randomly saying words and now he is consitently saying some words, saying and recognizing #1-10, trying to make me laugh, playing with my husband and I more, and has more eye contact. We have noticed a lot of improvement within the last month and a half after changing his diet. It has been awesome and has given me some more hope. Email me if you have an more questions.
