My step son is turning 16 at the end of April. He's a terrific young man, and we want to do something special for him. We live out in the country, and dressing up isn't an option. He'd like a co ed party, which we're fine with. We're prepared for music...but what else can we do that will keep a dozen teenagers occupied (beisdes bbq'ing)? Thanks!!

Kids that age really just want to feel grown up. I'm pretty sure if he has good music, good food, and good friends then he'll be fine. Ask him what his idea of a good time is and then try to incorporate it into the party. If you aren't hiring a DJ or a band to be at his party maybe that would be a good way to go about providing music. It's fun to be able to go up to the DJ or band and request songs and makes dancing more fun too. Good luck.

We live in the country as well. My son is turning 16 in December. What we have done in the past is a bon fire. Collect wood, trees brances etc.. light it up, turn on the music, have a table with food on it, have a winnie roast, hay ride, rent a boxing ring and a few gloves, or even better a sumu wrestling ring and costumes, create a theme. Go with it. Ask your son what he would like to do.. Get some ideas from him..

well, i say you have a problem most parents have as their children grow up. It seems to be with how your children grow up, being popular and other qualities. If you ask your child what they would like, then you can't go wrong. Good luck.

Well, hes a big boy now 16, a very important milestone in the teenage years.. he's gonna want this to be very fun and exciting and something to look back upon and say" yea my 16th rocked!". lol, well so to something like that you might wanna ask him to bring his dozen friends over and ask him what kinda music he likes.. and pretty much he'll handle the rest.. so just do what you can do and ask him the rest.. hes SIXTEEN now..

Happy Birthday!

Is he having a theme for your birthday party? If he loves music, he might like the idea of a music- themed party. You should hire a local band if you can afford one.

Have you considered preparing games for the party to keep the guests occupied? I know about a website that offers a wide selection of printable games that can make a birthday party much more fun.
