Hi Ladies,

Please re-assure me that my current hair loss problem isn't going to last forever. I am breastfeeding my four month old son. I have been losing so much hair for past two months. I eat a good diet and still take pregnancy vitamins. Any advice ?

even if you weren't breastfeeding you would still be losing you hair. it is completely normal. your hair is in a constant growth stage while preg. so when you have your baby your body sheds all the hair that it was holding on to while you were preg. that is why it seems like a lot, because it is. 9 months worth. don't worry it will go away. can't tell you when though cause everyone is different.

I breastfed my daughter and she is now 6 months old. When she was 4-5 months old is when I had the most hair loss, I'm talking about after getting out of the shower and stringing my hair to get all the water out I would pull out about 10-15 strands of hair. Very scary stuff but finally the hair loss slowed down. I would have sworn I was going bald! lol

Mine stopped falling out as much when my daughter started eating solids. I too ate well and gobbled vitamins but I did start brushing my hair outside to aviod cleaning up the mess!

Thanks for your replies. I guess I am just a first time mum having a panic attack about my falling hair. Its still falling but as yet I dont see any bald patches ! ! ! Also the tap water (de-salanated) where I live isn't too good so I guess that doesn't help when washing hair either !

that is just one of the things that i freaked out about. they tell us first time moms everything about what to excpet with the baby but don't tell us anything that happens to our own bodies. i had really bad night sweats the 1st week after my son was born and i called my mom freaking out! she said well now you know how i feel(she's going through menopause). anyways don't worry it will slow down and eventually stop.
