nope, but taking a warm, wet washcloth and rubbing them EVERYDAY gently, (not too hard!) is the greatest way ever i have found to toughen nipples!

My baby is due in August (I am still nursing my 10 month old. But for the first baby I at 6 months I bought a nursing bra and just opened the flaps. Worked great. The husband is not a bad idea either. My boyfriend did that to but you have to be careful because nipple stimulation can bring on contractions (Or so they say)

WIth my first baby my bf sucked on my nipples to toughen them and it work nursing was natural and easy. I don't think nipple stimulation brings on labor as much as intwrcourse does. We wanted our son to be born on his daddy bday so I the night before we were together as a couple the next afternoon we were celebrating the birth of my husband and our son. By the way he was due 3 days after. Now I am nursing our 8 month son and due to have our daughter July 21st using the same method. Her actual due date is July 19th My son nurses frequently and I haven't had any problems with pre term labor.

Your not supposed to toughen up your nipples ladies! Breastfeeding is not supposed to hurt, if it does, your baby is not latched on properly. Please know that toughening up your nipples is a myth. And PLEASE take a breast feeding class!
Good luck to all!

it is going to hurt some. maybe not "hurt" in the same sense as someone rubbing sandpaper against your breasts, but because it is something new to your body, like anything else, you have to get used to it. i had a nurse AND my mother guide me through breastfeeding my daughter, and even though she was latching on fine, it still hurt at the beginning. my daughter always had a full belly, and pooped like she was supposed to. that told me that i was doing it right. my nurse (from LLL) told me that the pain/discomfort subsides as soon as your nipples are used to it. i was told the same thing with my current pregnancy as "OUCH!" said......to toughen my nipples with a warm washcloth lightly. and i was told this during a breastfeeding class i took. becausei am due in 3 weeks, i have already started, and it is amazing what it has done to my nipples already. they are "rough." as if i had been breastfeeding for the past 3 years. although some women say it's not supposed to hurt, and if it does, you're doing it wronfg, don't be misled and give up. give it time, and it is a good idea to go to a class of some sort. by the way, they sell many different lotions and soothing ointments to help ease the pain at the beginning. i used Lanolin.

your breast do get a little cracked and pain full coz they are not use to all that sucking... but getting some one to toughen them up will not work unless he dose it all day every day lol...... there are great creams to by after you have bub that will help with the crackedness and the pain but it will pass with in time so just hang on lol........ but yes most of the time if your nipples are hurting while the baby is feeding that they are not on right...... hope i was of any help

To all nipple tougheners-
Or unless your baby was born with all her front/bottom row of teeth like mine was! OUCH! It was very painful, but for obvious reason. hehe.
