Eek, I think that's weird, I could never imagine breastfeeding my daughter at 8 years old...I think that although Im only planning to nurse my daughter untill she is a year old, I think it's ok to give a child your breastilk because of all the good in it but an 8 year old nursing straight from the breast is a little weird IMO.

| No, IMO absolutely not! I'm all for extended nursing, but only up until the age of 3 or so. I nursed my daughter for 17 months and was willing to go till she was two but much after that is too old. ↑ |
Breastfeeding is recommended for as long as mutually desired. There is nothing wrong with her breastfeeding her child (who actually weaned at 7 not 8). The average age for a child to self wean is around 4.
That being said I do not like the video. I have seen her speak about breastfeeding outside of the video and some of her statements are a bit hard to swallow. One thing many don't realize is that this woman is the minority of the minority and others judge all extended breastfeeding mamas just on this video. Could you imagine if we pigeon holed every type of person due to the views of the minority of the minority? The video hinders the view of breastfeeding mothers and that is my #1 reason for disliking that video. ↑ |
