My son & I haven't had the easiest time with breast feeding, but we've made it work through our various challenges. The latest...he'll usually nurse for a few minutes (2 or 3) then pull himself off. I'll put him back on & he'll take a couple of drinks and pull himself off again. This will go on as long as I keep putting him back on. He's going to the bathroom enough, so I'm pretty sure he's getting enough milk, but it's really frustrating & painful. Anyone have any ideas as to why he might be doing this or anything I can try to help him stay on better? Different positions don't seem to help. I'm so frustrated with breastfeeding being such a battle for us.

Don't give up it will get easier when your baby is older. You will never regret that you stuck it out.

This is the problem that I had - I could't get the baby off me as all he did was feed for a short while, stop, then cry for more feed. I sat for two hours once - just going from one breast to the other - it was very painful and I couldn't get a shower or go to the loo!

Has he got a cold at the moment as his nose may be blocked up and he's struggling to breathe whilst feeding? He'd have to keep stopping to get his breath back. Just a thought.

Contact the La Leche League for some help and support - you'll find their number etc. on the internet.
