yes he does need to nurse. he either needs to nurse or drink formula. solids should just be for "play" and practice until 1 yr of age. babies need more calories than they can get from just solids. if you decide to stop nursing u need to still give formula to replace the breastmilk.

Totally agree with Melissa on this one. Babies need either breastmilk or formula for at least 1 year. Foods before the one year mark are not to be babies main nutrician, they are for exploring and play. You only have 2 months to go until he is a year old, may just want to keep on till the 1st year mark. What else is he having during the day if he is only nursing to go to sleep (I am assuming that is for naps and bedtime)?

my son refused to take the bottle too. but he was going to have to learn to use it eventualy. So when he was about 7 months old, I just stuck a bottle in his mouth when it was time for him to nurse. he didnt want it and he cried and cried but i didnt give up. I left the bottle in his mouth until he started sucking. I didnt reeally wean him completely from breast feeding til he was 17 months old but i wanted t be able to leave every now and then so i really wanted him to learn to use the bottle.
