I'm only 12 weeks, and as curious as I am unexperienced! When the baby is born, is it true that it already knows it's mother? That it settles with it's mother better than with other people? Do mother and baby have a bond immediately?

some woman instantly bond with their babies but some woman don't. i loved my son don't get me wrong but i didn't have that "feeling" that everyone tells you, you are supposed to instantly get. by the time i left the hospital i was head over heels for my little guy but don't get too upset or worried if you aren't. and yes it is true that babies know you from the very start. they will turn their heads in the direction of you if they hear you talk. and they know your smell. after all they have been hearing you talk the whole 9 months inside you.

Yes they can sense your smell and they can remember your voice!

My son preferred my husband for the first 2 weeks. Now he settles with me best. As soon as he is handed to me he quiets. I am with Melisa though, the bonding came later. I loved my son and cared about him, but I felt a little detatched. I had a c-section and I think it took me a while for it to sink in that he was mine. I felt like a babysitter being taken advantage of for the first couple weeks. lol

Well they can begin to hear outside noises around 6 months of pregnancy and until birth so they can defiantly recognize your voice when they are born, they can also recognize music you played or favorite stories you read , as far as the bonding that all depends , but yes babies have a sense of who you are.

it can hear you when it's inside you and knows your voice when it comes out. also, they say you bond more if you breast feed because your baby recognizes your heart beat. also, the smell of breast milk is supposed to make them more alert.
