i talked to my doc about this when i was pregnant with my son and she said it is true because your body burns calories to make the milk needed for a child. So I ended up breastfeeding my son and lost all of my weight by the time I went to my 6wk. check up. But I do know women who lost the weight without breastfeeding, I think it just helps out is all.
Hope that helps! Sorry to write so much! ↑ |
thanks for the reply (: yah that helped out. i was just wondering and i keep hearing that from my friends who are/ had a baby. and i was just wondering from other mothers that have breatfeed if they found out that they lost weight faster breatfeeding than the ones who didnt. but thanks again (: ↑ |
Not sure mommy...both me and my sis-in-law breastfed our little ones. I lost my weight by 9 weeks post-baby and my s-i-l didn't lose hers for 9 months. ↑ |
it also helps to tone your uterus and helps with the after baby tummy chub. ↑ |
one of the ways that it helps you to loose the weight is that it takes an extra 500 calories to make the milk a day. so just by sitting there and nursing you are burning an extra 500 calories. ↑ |
I didn't lose my weight until I started running 3-4 miles 3x a week. And even then I didn't lose all of the weight. But when I stopped breastfeeding, I lost almost ten pounds in two weeks. Read more about breastfeeding and weight on my blog
