I don't fully understand your question. In what way do you think they differ? Ofcourse colostrum meets a newborn's needs the first few days in ways regular breastmilk does not. It is loaded with nutrients and antibodies in a concentrated form that will help your baby develop his/her immune system. Your breasts produce colostrum only the first few days, and it is often recomended that even if a mother chooses not to breastfeed, that the baby gets supplied her colostrum. It is often called "Liquid Gold". You can get more information about it at this website. www.lalecheleague.org/ FAQ/colostrum.html Othe r then colostrum, I do not know how a newborn's nutrtional requirements would differ the first couple of months except to need increasingly more as (s)he grows bigger. ↑ |
