I stopped breast feeding my daughter over 2 years ago and I can still express a small amount of fluid(a drop or two) . has anyone ever experienced this? ↓

Yes...thought that I was pregnant too but it was nothing....it's just part of it I was told??? Whatever that means but ,if you have concerns you could call the nurse line or see your doctor. They thought that it was a pituitary or thyroid thing with me but it wasn't. ↑ |
Once you produce breastmilk, your body will forever be capable of making it. It is not unusual to have some milk come out every now and then. My mom does occassionally and she hasn't nursed me in 23 years! ↑ |
wow, that's interesting. I was starting to worry a little because I read that fluid from your breast(when you're not braestfeeding obviously) could be a sign of breast cancer. I still think I'm going to go to the Dr. and have it checked out, just to be safe because I plan to start trying to conceive next month and I definitely want to breastfeed. ↑ |
it is also a symtom of a thyroid problem i've been told. you should probably go and get checked out just in case. better safe than sorry!! ↑ |
you are absolutely right...better safe than sorry. I'm going to make an appointment this week. For my own peace of mind. ↑ |
good i hope that everything turns out ok. ↑ |
Fluid from your breast could be a sign of breast cancer if it is bloody, pussy, or smells funny. It's not something you could mistake for breastmilk. ↑ |
Well that's good to know because ewhat I have seems to look like colostrum. It's just a clear odorless fluid and barely any at all. I have asked several people I know who have breast fed, if they ever experienced this and they said no. So I was starting to think that something was abnormal. ↑ |
My mom had a cyst rupture in one of her breasts and she squeezed out blood. Most moms, after they wean, don't try to express milk because they assume they're all dried up. ↑ |
Absolutely, I had milk for years, I am 54 and my kids are 28 and 26, still got milk when son was a teen, and now we are hoping to adopt a newborn, and I plan to breastfeed yet again!!! ↑ |
Wow pattyjb that's amazing, Ididn't know you could have milk that long. good luck with your future adoption...that's so sweet. ↑ |
I have a 2 yr old and am now pregnant and didnt feed for long but was able to produce milk up until my pregnancy with my second baby and I am 31weeks and still can produce if need too. ↑ |
IT IS DEFINTALEY POSSIBLE. IHAD A PREMATURE BABY IN OCTOBER OF 04. HE WAS 9 WEEKS EARLY AND OF COURSE I WANTED TO BREAST FEED CAUSE HE NEEDED ALL THE NUTRITION. I STILL HAVE BREAST MILK. I WAS CONCERNED SO I TOLD OBGYN AND HE DID A PROLACTIN TESTS TO SEE WHAT MY PROLACTIN LEVEL WAS. PROLACTIN IS A HORMONE THAT TELLS YOUR BRAIN TO TELL YOUR BREASTS TO START MAKING MILK, SO IF YOUR PROLACTIN LEVEL IS ELEVATED THAN THEY BEGIN TO LOOK FOR A TUMOR IN YOUR BRAIN THAT COULD PUSHING ON YOUR PITUATARY GLAND IF THEY FIND A TUMOR 99.99% IT IS TAKING OUT WITH NO PROBLEM. BELIEVE ME I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS BECAUSE I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG. SO I YOU ARE CONCERNED ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO DO A PROLACTIN LEVEL TESTS IT IS JUST A SIMPLE BLOOD TESTS, WE ARE ALL MOMS WE HAVE BEEN POKED AND PROD ALOT SO WHAT IS ONE MORE:) ↑ |
I stopped BF my daughter 7 1/2 years ago and I still have a bit of milk - even before I got pregnant again - I think some of it is just natural lymphatic fluid and some might be milk. Mine is usually clear or a bit yellowish. ↑ |
my son is 3 years old now and i still have milk in my breast, what does this means? ↑ |
I still had some breastmilk for almost 2 years after breastfeeding. I couldn't believe it. It was only a little bit I noticed when I took a shower and checked if there was any still in there. Eventually it just stopped. I just can't believe it took so long. ↑ |
